Festive Homemade Playdough

One craft that never fails to appease my very fussy children is playdough. They love squidging it, making it into sausages and snakes and rolling it out flat with my rolling pin. Although we do have lots of the shop brought stuff I do like to make my own homemade playdough if I get the chance as I think it feels a lot nicer. It's also great if you have a slightly curious child who rather likes to eat things they shouldn't as you know exactly what is in it.

This playdough recipe is one that I use with a bit of a festive twist as we have added golden glitter to it to make some sparkly Christmas shapes. We used green food dye with golden glitter but other combinations would also look great such as deep blue with silver glitter or festive red with green glitter.

It would also make a lovely present for a child wrapped in a cellophane bag with a cookie cutter attached.

Homemade Playdough Recipe

2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
4 tsps cream of tartar
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cups of water with food colouring added
glitter!

Mix all of the ingredients and slowly heat on the hob until it starts to form into a ball of dough. Wait until cool and then take it out and knead it into a ball shape - then you are ready to play.
