Ways To Make Some Extra Money When You Are A SAHM

As if January wasn't depressing enough apparently it's official that the UK is now in a triple dip recession. The snow has stopped a lot of trade and along with the cuts in Child Benefit many people are now looking to to try and earn a bit of extra money. This is not always easy if you are a SAHM. Lots of women including myself can't really afford to go out to work as childcare is so expensive so I've been having a think about ways to earn a bit of extra money from home. Here are a few ideas...

1. Get selling!

When you have children you find that the house fills up pretty quickly with junk. Our bookshelves and toy draws are heaving with many items that they children hardly ever use and, as every parent knows, the kids tend to grow out of their clothes on a regular basis so you are often left with things that are hardly used.

There are lots of ways to go about selling any unwanted goods. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a market trader you can get a slot at a car boot sale - these are usually good fun and you are able to barter with customers and you get the cash there and then!

If you are are computer savvy you could sell on ebay or on a facebook selling page. Alternatively if you don't have the time to do this there are companies who will sell your goods for you although they do take a percentage of the profit.

You can also sell baby goods at the NCT nearly new sales and give a share of your profits to a worthwhile cause

2. Look after the pennies.

How many times do you find loose change hiding under sofas or hanging around in coat pockets? Rope in the children to do a treasure hunt of the house and see how much you can find. You can also use decorated jam jars or milk bottles to put any spare change in. It's amazing how quickly it adds up to quite a significant amount.

3. Give your opinion

You can often get paid for taking surveys and opinion polls. Although it's not that much per survey it adds up and it's easy to fit in around looking after children or in the evenings once they have gone to bed. Yougov and Swagbucks are websites that are always looking for people to sign up to do this.

4. Take a gamble

If you fancy taking a risk you could have a go at some online games on sites such as Ladbrokes. Some people manage to make money professionally from these sites and having a bit of a flutter can be fun - but remember don't risk what you can't afford to loose!

5. Get crafty

Have you got a skill? Are you a great cake baker, face painter or artist? More and more women are starting up their own businesses making the most of their talents and even selling a few things could add up to more pennies in the bank.

  1. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and everything.
But think of if you added some great pictures or videos to give your
posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this
website could definitely be one of the best
    in its field. Wonderful blog!
