My Top Three Best Baby Buys

When I found out I was pregnant with my first baby I was over the moon. Obviously I was thrilled to be bringing a new little life into the world but there was also a part of me that was quite excited at all the shopping to be done too!

As an expectant mum with no experience of babies (most of my friends were pregnant with their first children around the same time as me) I didn't have a clue about which items were a must and which were, quite frankly, a waste of time. I devoured all the baby books and magazines and by the time I was around 6 months pregnant I had an extensive list of things that I absolutely had to have for my baby! I dread to think how much money I must have wasted on things I hardly used but there were also some great buys that I definitely don't regret so here are my top  baby"must haves"

1. My Angel Care Baby Monitor.

I'm a worrier at the best of times and when I had my daughter I found that I could hardly sleep through worry about her. In fact I'm sure that one of the reasons she wakes so much in the night is that I was constantly prodding her to check she was still breathing. When she was about 3 weeks old I decided to get an Angel Care monitor which comes with a sensor mat. This monitors not only sound but also movement. It is very sensitive so if your baby should have trouble with their breathing it will alert you to this instantly. It is quite pricy but it really did give me peace of mind.

2. A Lightweight Buggy

We spent ages choosing our travel system which was an interchangeable pram, carseat and buggy. However when it arrived it became clear that it was suitable only for NASA trained engineers who were also weightlifters. It was so complicated, heavy and clunky that it would take me aorund 30 minutes to get it together in the morning and heaving it out of the door and down the drive was a 2 person job. Once my daughter could sit up I got a Mclaren Volo. It's lightweight and easy to fold and it's now embarking on it's 5th year with us so has lasted really well. 3. Babygrows

There are hundreds of adorable outfits for babies - especially for girls and I brought quite a lot of them. They were undeniabley beautiful but for ease and practicallity you really can't beat the good old babygrow. They make life so much easier when you have to do an emergency nappy change or your baby decides to be sick everywhere.
