Valentines Day Ideas

Now Christmas and New Year are behind us I have noticed the shops starting to fill up with Valentines Day gifts and cards, and yes it's only a month until Valentines Day so time to think up some gift ideas for the man in your life! We don't tend to make a massive fuss of Valentines Day but it is nice to take time to celebrate your relationship as all to often, in the day to day hustle and bustle of life, we forget to appreciate what we have.

So here are some gift ideas - from the budget ideas to the more luxurious presents.

Love on a Budget

If you are trying to cut back after Xmas excess don't worry - you can still give your partner a lovely valentines treat without spending much money. They say a way to a man's heart is through his stomach so why not cook up some tasty treats in the kitchen. These chocolate truffles are so easy to make and I think they taste better than some of the shop bought ones.

Or if you are no good with cooking why not give something totally unique. You could try writing a poem or story which you can then print out on good quality paper, roll up into a scroll and tie it with some pretty ribbon- this is a lovely personal gift that will always be cherished. If you need some inspiration you can have a look at some of the ideas on this love poetry site.

One thing that people often don't have is the gift of time so another great gift idea is to create some gift certificates for the one you love (you could do this in a design package such as powerpoint).  Some ideas might be a lie in and breakfast in bed, washing the car or cooking a nice meal!

For a sweet cheap treat you can get an old jam jar and fill it with love hearts. Tie a ribbon round it and add a label with your own personal message on - a really adorable idea.

A Love of Luxury

Of course if you are lucky enough to have a bigger budget you can make a more extravagant gesture for the one you love!

My husband loves gadgets and so I think that the online shop Gizoo looks like a fabulous place to find him some unusual gifts. I think that the fairground popcorn maker looks brilliant as he loves watching movies and would also be enjoyed by all the family.

I think the ultimate Valentines Day gift would probably be a weekend away. Paris is known as the city of love and I can imagine that a surprise weekend away would be an amazing present. Unfortunately this is out of reach for us for now but one day....

  1. If you're a dab hand at poetry, you can publish your poems in a book with photographs for around £15. There are a few online websites which will do this for you and it couldn't get more lovely than that in my view!
