Lego Ninjago Review

If there is one thing that my kids love playing with it’s Lego. These little bricks and miniature people seem to keep them occupied for hours. My husband enjoys it too as he is essentially a big kid at heart and so it keeps everyone happy. The only thing that’s not so great about it is that it really does hurt if you inadvertently manage to step on a piece!

We were really excited then when we got to try out some of the new Lego Ninjago range which offers quite high tech Lego sets with a Ninja theme. The idea behind the Golden Dragon set that we had was that a ninja warrior called Lloyd has called upon a magical Golden Dragon to help him fight his enemies. I thought it was a great idea to have a back story to the Lego set as it really fired my children’s imaginations.

As my kids are 5 and 3 they did need a bit of help with building it but this was fine as my husband was on hand to help out and it made for a great daddy and kids activity (whilst I was able to have a sneaky cup of tea and a biscuit in the kitchen).

I have to say that we were all really impressed with the Ninjago set. We felt that it was far more interesting for the kids than some of the easier kits. They had to put together a rather magnificent Golden dragon made from Lego along with some little ninja characters and a catapult!

We found that the kit was well set out with the separate bits needed for each piece packaged together and the instructions were very clear as well. Although it was quite challenging to build it was a positive challenge for the children as it involved using their fine motor skills, learning how to follow instructions and patience too.

The end result did look rather magnificent. It was great to see the sense of achievement on the kids faces when they had finished and they both looked very proud of their hard work! I can imagine that some children would love to show the finished dragon off by putting on display but mine had great fun playing with it and making up different games. I would definitely recommend the Lego Ninjago range for children of all ages!!
