Making Life Easier

As a busy mum it's easy for the stress of life to sometimes get on top of you. If you are not trying to keep up with the homework you are trying to keep on top of the housework. It often seems like there are endless piles of washing to plough through and of course feeding a hungry family, meal planning and shopping are all hard work too.

So I have been wondering if there are any simple ways to make life a little bit easier for me. Here are some time saving solutions to hopefully help you claw back a little "me time"

1. Get Slow Cooking

My slow cooker is a real life saver on a busy day. I like to try and feel my family healthily but when you are in a rush it's all too easy to revert to a ready meal or takeaway. With a slow cooker you can make your meal in the morning and it cooks throughout the day so that by the time you get in the food will be perfectly done. You can even prepare the meal in the pot the night before and keep it in the fridge overnight. Then just pop it in the slow cooker in the morning - simple! I use a Crockpot and here is a great recipe I have developed for a delicious slow cooked chilli con carne.

2. Make The Mornings Stress Free

With two school age children mornings can be frantic. One thing I would recommend is to do as much as possible the night before. Make sure that uniforms are laid out, coats and shoes are by the door and book-bags packed and ready to go. Always allow 10 minutes leeway for emergencies. If you are early the kids can have a run around in the playground and if something happens (as it frequently does with kids!) you won't panic as you know you can still be on time.

3. Get Timesaving Tools For The Housework

I'm not a big fan of housework but I do like my house to look clean. I love anything that saves me time and I have to admit to being a Kleeneze addict. I adore the clever things that they come up with and I always end up wondering why I didn't think of that! I've been having a look at their website and I'm definitely going to buy some of their innovative Venetian blind cleaners and I will getting some of their magic erasers to get rid of all the scratches and scuffs left on my walls.

4. Make A Wall Planner

With everyone coming and going it can be hard to keep track of who needs to be where and when! A great solution is a chalk or whiteboard planner. Use this to detail all the families schedules and make notes of things you need to buy and do. You can then check them off as soon as they are done so there won't be any doubling up of jobs!
