A Mini-Break With Hand Picked Hotels

It's been a long time since my husband and I had a holiday away together and now, five years and two children down the line, I would really love a break away for us as a couple. Nappies and night wakings don't lend themselves to romance and so I have managed to convince my parents to look after the children for a couple of days whilst we enjoy ourselves!

Ideally we want to stay in the UK and I am definitely in need of some luxury so I have been perusing handpickedhotels.co.uk in order to find a romantic country house hotel with character, style and good food. It's certainly the right website for this as it's easy to find hotels in the location that you are looking for and to see what packages are on offer. I particularly like the destination guides that tell you about the area where your hotel is based - giving you information about heritage and culture, outdoor activities and things to do for families. This makes it really easy to plan a great weekend.

Hand Picked Hotels also have a great sections on spa days which look blissful. It would be great to add some pampering to my break - just what I need to sooth away the aches and pains inflicted on me by two very active kids!

So far I have narrowed it down to two favourites. The L'Horizon Hotel and Spa at St. Brelade's Bay in Jersey looks amazing. I have had some lovely family holidays in Jersey and the thought of a beautiful hotel coupled with walks along the fantastic white beaches is extremely tempting.

And then again the Norton House Hotel and Spa in Scotland also looks wonderful. I love Edinburgh and when we went there before we ended up in a very unspectacular hotel (imagine a cold basement room in February!) so it would be great to go there and stay somewhere much more luxurious.

I can definitely imagine myself relaxing here

So now I've jut got to decide which one to book and we will be off on our mini-break - I can't wait!

  1. Oooh, it's so long since we had a break like this. My kids are too young to be left, but too old to go to sleep with a babysitter and let us enjoy a lovely evening. Hmmmm... *tries to think of a way round this situation* ;)
